The 2010 PSP Southampton Boat Show in association with itv Meridian is coming again to Mayflower Park in Southampton from 10th to 19th September.
It is a guaranteed great day out for all the family with more boats, displays and exhibitors than previous years. In its 42nd year, the show will be pulling out all the stops and there are several brand new, exciting treats in store at this year's show that is sure to bring in the crowds.

BMF Wessex Summer Quarterly Meeting

The summer quarterly BMF Wessex meeting is being held this month at Mezza Luna restaurant in Poole Park.
Following from the success and interest from last year’s networking event, this summer’s evening will again be a networking event including a delicious finger buffet.
Last year many had fun out on the boating lake in the Rockley pedalos, this year there is something very different arranged for all to have fun on the lake and which is guaranteed to put a smile on your face! Watching the amusments from the top deck balcony and taking full advantage of the networking opportunities will be the aim of the evening.

Golfing 4 All Launch Event

Golfing 4 All is a new organisation that has been put in place by the Purchase family, Mo Thomlinson, Darren Stratman and myself to help fund and run a ParaGolfer chair. Golfing 4 All is the organisation that brings the opportunity of playing golf and sports to all.
The chair was obtained for Matthew Purchase through very kind donations and support of family, friends and the local community. This chair is not only going to be for the use of Matthew who was a very keen golfer before his accident, but it is going to be available for the use of other less able bodied people with the guidance and supervision of Darren, Canford Magna golf pro.
This organsiation is bringing about the prospect for a large amount of people in the local area to be able to live, breathe and dream golf! The launch day on Tuesday June 22nd is going to be a great introduction to the ParaGolfer chair in Dorset, where everyone will get to see the chair in action while Matthew demonstrates how it works and how it has helped him play golf.

Poole Afloat

This year's Poole Afloat in association with BMF's new initiative On The Water will be held on Saturday 19th June on Poole Quay coinciding with the Harry Paye Charity event.
Poole Afloat 2010 continues to be one of the biggest free boating and watersports events that promotes local businesses and encourages new people in to boating. Last year Poole Afloat helped around 600 people get on the water and this year we want to increase that number.
The Poole Afloat event will run from 10am to 6pm and as well as many stands and exhibits from companies all throughout the marine industry there is also the Try-a-Boat programme running for all to try out and have a ride in boat, admiring the beautiful scenery from Brownsea Island.

Fresh Approach Team Tri Charity Event

Sunday June 13th, QE Leisure Centre, Wimborne 3pm
|

Teams will compete against each other to complete all 3 disciplines of a triathlon; swimming, cycling and running/walking. The main aim of this event is about team work, having fun and raising awareness for ParaGolfer, the organisation that all monies raised is going to.
The ParaGolfer is a specially designed multi-terrain, powered stand-up wheelchair that allows disabled and less able bodied people to stand up and have the opportunity to play golf.
Local boy Matthew Purchase was a very keen golfer and sportsman before a shocking brain injury accident that occurred on a trip in New Zealand. Because of the severity of Matthews accident it was told that he would not be able to walk, talk or possibly see again. The determination of this young man and the support of his loving family have seen Matthew improve beyond anyone's expectations to the point where he is now talking, walking and trying to do as many things as possible for himself. This chair is going to bring back the thrill of golf and being outdoors for Matthew and many others.
This chair is going to open up many possibilities for the local people of Wimborne and Canford Magna to stand up and play golf. It will be kept and maintained at Canford Magna Golf Club and will be available for all to use.

Rockley's Poole Park Open Day

Rockley at Poole Park, celebrating their third year in the purpose-built boat house at the boating lake, are opening the centre for the season.
Rockley are hosting the Poole Park Open Day on Sunday March 28th from 10am to 4pm with all kids going FREE on the water.
Free taster and hire sessions are available for children with kayaking, sailing, rowing and bell boating.
For those not wanting to get wet there are a host of other activities to keep everyone entertained. Climb Vertigo are back with the climbing wall and Water Balls for everyone to try, have a go at 'hook the lifeboat' with the RLNLI team and meet the Round Table Children's Wish charity. It is a fun day not to be missed.
